nederland.gay aims to be a small and cozy instance serving the bilingual (english+dutch) audience, especially queer and otherwise marginalized folk (but we welcome anyone who has their heart in the right place)

i want it to become an alternative since there’s very little places on fedi that seem to cater to dutch speakers (native or not), and the options available at hand are too.. generalist so to say

we just happened to become a thing today, so we want to federate with fedi and crashtest this thing.

we run on akkoma, have plenty of custom emojis (you can ask for more if you’d like!) and plenty of room for new people

Hey, you know what's really cool?

I can come to this place every other day, and I can see the coolest people doing the coolest stuff. I see people taking trains or bikes or bicycles to work, or to get around, and being super enthused about it. I see people making crazy good works of art or games or programs in so many media, or talking about music, or posting pictures of things they like, or sharing memes. Writing awesome code. Streaming videos about things that make them happy. Maintaining servers to make all of this possible for the rest of us.

There are so many people here who are truly inspirational. People I look up to, who have the passion and perseverance to do things I could never even begin to dream of, and make it look easy.

And my thought on that is that people are actually pretty cool. And I am inspired. I want to get out of my own negativity cycles, and be inspired. I want to be here for the good things in life. And I just want to say...

You all are really cool. Keep doing what you're doing. We all have bad days. We all have our insecurities. And we all sometimes wonder if anyone even cares. ADHD brain bouncing around at moth speed today. I've gone from experimenting with emulating Solatorobo for streaming (results inconclusive, would like to talk to other DS game streamers about this), to noting Solatorobo facts for the little tail wiki, to wanting to find a tabletop system suited for the Little Tail Bronx setting. Also a little bit of faffing about with old saves in ATLYSS.

I should be doing my laundry and housework, and going to the food bank.

I need to read some harmlessly bad takes or terrible dad jokes more often. I'm realizing my astigmatism is aggravated by a lack of aggressive eyerolling, which helps exercise my ocular muscles and realigns my vision
