my favourite part about Gentoo is how you can practice radical individualism by compiling all your own software instead of relying on communal build infra. the upshot of this is that it lets you set use flags like "i only speak English :)" so you can save 600 kilobytes of disk space (in exchange for several duplicate hours' compile time)
