I guess I shouldn't feel too frustrated about this--it was a hand-me-down offered to me in place of hauling my old junker across the continent--I just feel like I got the rug pulled out from under me on this one

uuuugh I still can't believe my computer's PCI Express topology is such a lemon

can't really do anything but just... not shop Intel, which I already was planning anyway. This wouldn't have even been a problem to begin with if their IGP wasn't such a hot mess

...Ryzen is still the current AMD architecture, right? ;;;;

Does anyone have any recommendations for Ryzen hardware that I could pursue? Gonna need a decent CPU and a motherboard with dual 16x slots + proper IOMMU isolation between them.

Well, this has been a whole buildup to nothing. Turns out the problem I'm running into is rooted in the CPU, and there's... nothing I can really do except replace half my computer .-.
