#AskFedi: Long shot, but: anyone have an old Trust Soundforce1200 speaker set? The ~2000 era beige boxes with the wooden subwoofer. It doesn't need to function perfectly or even necessarily be complete. I need replacement parts for mine...

(Yes I know it's old, no I haven't found any speaker set that can replace it to my standards, no anything Logitech isn't an option. If you know this specific speaker set and the unique sound it produces, and have a recommendation for a suitable modern replacement, it would be very welcome though! But no generic purchasing recommendations please.)

Advice for community managers:

Use the Olivia Hill rule.

It's surprisingly easy to enforce:

Fascists get really upset and will talk to you about why the rule is bad.

You then ban them.

That's it, that's all the work it takes!

@foone Okay, but then for a lark, launch double-sided Micro-SD at the same time

Hypothetically: if there was a service offering after-market open-hardware sodium-ion batteries for old laptops at a reasonable price, would you be interested in buying them and, if so, how many? I'm talking about old Thinkpads and such. Information about the specific devices would also be useful.

@pixx As it is, I'm already frustrated by having a perfectly serviceable internal battery pack I've got for a Lenovo machine, if not for all the cells being spotwelded together in a way I can't really disassemble :T

@pixx The middle sounds really useful for mainstream models, including already maintainable models like Lenovo on the market, but the latter sounds like a lot of fun for more obscure hardware

@amandac either crashed or I forgot to open it after a power loss. I'll start it back up again when I'm on my desktop next

@bunnyhearted I knew he was trouble when he told us not to open that door, even when Chris was...

@djsundog Someone get Ed Anunziata on the line, this could mark the return of Mr. Bones

A recent experiment. I made an "ascii automata" which on click places a random glyph, then analyzes if the character "touches" any of the glyph edges, then places another random character which continues the edge connection, and so forth, until it places a character that doesn't touch any edges. I made it so that you can mix and match different character sets from the dropdown menu (or load your own as png).

You can play with it at:
