Lionizing Terry Pratchett's work as universally progressive and incisive denies the early stuff where he happily used racist tropes for a cheap laugh, and the *climb* he made from there to where he ended up.

This is important because it's not just any given book saying "We can do better"; it's the author, doing better, as you go.

@MakioKuta You know what, I'll bite! I'm submitting my Little Tail Bronx OC Basil Giorifis (with this really scuffed drawing of him for reference)

Once a researcher tasked with tracking down smuggled relics, Basil has since gone freelance but keeps one such relic of his own, an ancient spellbook filled with the memories of past wielders that allows him to cast magic when he was born without the ability to do so himself. Under the mistaken belief that wielding it barehanded would consign his soul to the tome, he wears gloves when handling it himself.

While he used to be self-important and scheming, Basil has fallen on hard times, and developed a smoking habit with matabako from constant sleepless nights of research into the ancient history of his world
