But yeah, nowadays I tend to look at the Lidl offerings first by default because really, really often that is exactly what it works out to - something functionally identical to the brand name stuff but at half the price (and often with a year more warranty...)

The Lidl option isn't *universally* the better option, but often enough that I always check first
