Facebook Threads
"Threads userbase drops by 80%, only a month after launch"
Yes, this is how MAU metrics work, when are journalists gonna stop reporting these misleading metrics?
Facebook Threads
@joepie91 so many journalists that just work on pumping out instant-reaction, constant feed of content... there is just zero critical thinking. all they do is stir shit for clicks, and honestly it's just one of the symptoms of our society's toxic streams of mainstream information propagation
Facebook Threads
@joepie91 and obviously you know me, this isn't in support of Threads. but it's just misleading content like this that gets people riled up, for what ...
Facebook Threads
@joepie91 they could compare to other big services to put the 80% drop into perspective, but I guess actual analysis doesn't get clicks
re: Facebook Threads
(For those unfamiliar: MAU means Monthly Active Users, and so it's measured over the past month.
"After a month" is exactly when the user surge drops outside of the measuring frame, and so everybody who tried it out and didn't return suddenly no longer gets counted. And so you *always* get a sharp drop.)
