@elilla This behaviour is why so many instances even bother with rules to begin with, just so admins can cite them as pseudo-legal procedure to wriggle out of doing anything. So they can say "oh what can we do, no rules were violated?"
This is why the report function that is tied to rules exists, to disappear complaints outside the acceptable rule violation template (default Mastodon functionality to filter out 'spurious' reports, thanks for enabling this, Eugen). This is why our instance refuses to have set rules. Rules are cowardice, a trap laid by moderation teams dodging accountability.
Kind of like, you know, legal systems and ruling classes in real life.
