One of the main supporters was John Harvey Kellogg. He was a Seventh Day Adventist, and they are very anti-sex. After it caught on, circumcision sort of became a tradition in the US.
My parents are christian, and they said that religion was part of the reason they circumcised me. Outside of the US, it is rare for christians to be circumcised.
