@Elizafox Yeah, it's terrible. It's also still not uncommon for intersex children to be castrated, even when there is no medical reason for it. The "normalization" operations are often done for social reasons, and they can cause a lot more harm than good.
Here is a good video by an intersex person who had this done to them: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9yHAYOvTdMI They were born with external genitals that appeared female, and internal testes. They were castrated shortly after birth, and because of that, they had to take hormones to go through puberty.

California is the only state with a law restricting operations on intersex minors, and New York is working on a bill right now.
