So, someone brought their parrot as a collaborator to an online music circle and I have not been this awed in a long time.

@vortex_egg shameless plug : some friends at Cyberia run capsul.org, a vm host. It's set up so everything 'just works' out of the box.

I think we might've ran out of static ips, so I'd check before buying one immediately, but it's a good service run by excellent people. There's reasonable defaults and some very thoughtful interfaces. You might wanna give it a try. :)

Around March 30 of this year, someone on Mastodon posted some art they had for sale. There was a piece I really liked and wanted to get when I had some extra cash.

I thought I bookmarked the toot, but maybe I didn't. And maybe it's been deleted. But I can't remember now who the artist was.

If I attach a photo of the painting, would you all boost it?

And if it's still for sale, would the artist kindly DM me? :)

Thanks!!

@thegibson@hackers.town I wonder if conditions maybe have outpaced reporting... The statistics I've seen don't seem like they're telling the whole story.

Do you know if there are ground-level efforts that might have more accurate data than what the WHO/US media is reporting?

@vortex_egg working with community libraries might be a good start. It'd be awesome if I could ask a librarian an question and, if the question is weird enough, they'd send me to the relevant academic to help.

Obv, there's some anti abuse stuff, etc etc, but it might be a path forward.

Every so often, I want to boost a toot, but said toot is not well CW'd.

Is there an easy way for me to boost a toot and add a content warning? When you're in this situation, what do you do?

Pretty wild how common the "your library needs to reinvent wheels at least 500 lines worth or else it's BAD" mentality still is, you'd think it's obvious that small dependencies are the perfect 'do one thing, do it well' philosophy...

@thegibson@hackers.town can we call it an ApplePi, then?

Anyone ever tell you bicycles don't grow on trees? Well in the Netherlands they do!

Without looking it up, how much RAM do you think the Atari 2600 has? I'm really curious how much people ballpark, and how far off they are, so please boost and don't post the reply in the answers.

@socketwench I think I have epubs of the whole series. You're welcome to them, if you'd like. They're also for sale in normal ebook places.

@socketwench can I drop a Minneapolis-local author recommendation?

If you haven't read her stuff, Lyda Morehouse is fun. The first book or so in the LINK Angels series is kinda hetero-Christian tame, but her worldbuilding is phenomenal. She's a lesbian and writes a lot of romance, mostly straight, and she's really nice.

The LINK Angel series is set in a cyberpunk theocracy with narrative themes of AI sovereignty/identity, the 'rest of the world' when the US and Europe do things, plus some gender-deviant angels (cw: there's some misgendering) and some remarkably cool hackers. It's really fun. The first book in the series is Archangel Protocol.

@socketwench

I'm reading Harrow the Ninth, sequel to Gideon the Ninth. It's about futuristic necromancers in space. With big sapphic energy.
