One of these days I'll dive into the difference in nuance between "cishet" and "straight" but for that I'll have to dive into the complexities of the idea of a "straight trans person"

My vibes based guess is that straight encompasses more than cishet, as an antithesis to queerness and in that sense I'm sure many trans people strive for and even reach that

And in that sense "cishet" occupies the same place as "lgbt" somewhere between straight and queer where it's only synonymous in most cases

Like I've met many lgbt-not-queer people (most liberal gays fall into this category, for instance) but never any cishet-not-straight people, though that may just be a consequence of being around pretty much only queer people

Unsolicited discourse on queerness

@dragon I wonder about poly and kink stuff in this context. I feel like if someone is cishet and poly, if they're doing stuff well, they generally are queer... which i guess makes sense if we see queerness as a relationship strategy.

FWIW, I usually say queerness is about a deliberateness to how folks approach relationships and their structures, usually due to society not having an existing "template" that works for them. This would accommodate your "un-queer" gay couple.
