I have to go to Birmingham for work tomorrow.

At first I was like "oh that's like half as far away as London and I don't have to be there until 10:30 so at least I won't have to get up at like 6 like I do for London."

But trains being hecked up and having to get to Piccadilly early enough for crip assistance and not being able to get a lift into town tomorrow like I usually could meant some complicated calculations about how early I should be leaving the house and...

I'll be getting up at 6.

Okay, it wasn't the trains that were hecked up, it was the train website I have to use for work (easily the worst system I have to use for work, even worse than the shitty HR one) giving me bad information!

So anyway I'm at Piccadilly half an hour early.

Ah well, it's nice out if I could be bothered to go for a walk. And even in the station, the numbers box is giving me good numbers so I can take my mask off and treat myself to a drink of water. Luxury. :)

I used some of this time to finally get the co2 monitor to pair with my phone, which is disproportionately exciting to me.

It was aggravating me that it wouldn't work before because it's very useful to be able to change how quickly it updates and stuff, so I'm glad it's sorted out now.

Now I'm just playing around with the app. :) Ooh it does atmospheric pressure too!

Ha!

I heard a familiar voice get on the train: a colleague of mine but I knew she wasn't going to the thing I'm going to today.

The assistance had put on the wrong train! She was getting moved to first class by the train manager who was sorting this out and invited me along.

We sit down, order coffees, it's empty so I can take my mask off.

And suddenly she's not staying on this train as long as me, she can transfer to a direct one at the first stop.

So I've almost got first class to myself!

This is not how I expected to look for my #TransOnTrains selfie today, but this is the story I have!

@bright_helpings dude that story was great and you look so freaking dapper.

@starless It is a good story. I'm on a really crowded train coming home now, but I can't complain after getting a first class car almost all to myself this morning!
