performing potential nonsense please stand by

when power comes back on ill work on finishing the Alpine Linux chroot

@lyncia@social.pixie.town oh interesting
I've messed with kterm a lot on my kindle pw3 and pw4
I have a pfetch image somewhere on my account

@lyncia@social.pixie.town wasn't sure if it worked on multiple different Linux ereaders with minor changes or something :p

@lyncia@social.pixie.town ohhh I'm mixing them up then

I've got koreader on my Kindles too :p

@theking Kobo is a friendlier environment for modding generally

@lyncia@social.pixie.town I would imagine as much, but my Kindles were super easy to mod when I did it, luckily

Although I never really made any of the few ideas I had because I don't really know anything about doing stuff with the eink framebuffer tool things for making programs

@theking Kobo doesnt require exploits to get into the internals like Kindle usually does.

@lyncia@social.pixie.town yeah... I would have gotten a nice kobo if they were cheap (and I knew more about them at the time)...

My Kindles were dirt cheap and refurbished though, so, not too big of an issue for me

@theking I like that for some reason some Kobos like the Clara HD use a microsd card in a normal slot where a flash chip would usually be. so the storage is upgradable and its easy to make complete imagea of the internal storage

@lyncia@social.pixie.town yeah, that's a funny and interesting design choice, but damn, I really like it because it means the flash storage isn't a cause for a paperweight (assuming it's backed up)

If I got a new ereader (considering I currently have a nice android one now)
I would definitely want a nice color one, because they look fun to use for light illustrations and manga

@theking I want one of the ones with the stylus so I can do puzzle books digitally

@lyncia@social.pixie.town ooh, my android tablet one is one of those, it's really nice imo

It is super cheap too, but the downside is there is no support for them at all from the company
And I had to fix mine myself :/

@lyncia@social.pixie.town at least my issue was simple: the stylus digitizer cable was loose

@theking everyone always says "notebooks, notebooks!" but not one person has said "puzzle book word search :>"

@lyncia@social.pixie.town I don't know if I can markup books, I haven't thought about that
Drawing notes on it is very nice though

The downside is that the OEM notes app is the only smooth one because few apps actually support ereaders well

Also koreader doesn't work properly on it :/
Some sort of weird touch implementation issue or something
