When I was a kid, I used to buy these little Bomberman looking guys at grocery store vending machines. The toys had holes in their chest, in to which you could insert a marble, which you could then launch with a lever on the back.

I discovered many things about these toys today. Come with me on a journey.

@ajroach42 it's bomberman!

We had a 4-player cab at PAPA (converted from a Gauntlet) and multiplayer bomberman is The Best Thing. I was surprised that everyone I talked to was kinda unaware of it 'cause Bomberman was HUGE where I grew up

(then called Dynablaster near me because, y'know, lotta bombing going on)

@ajroach42 (in a weird Mandela Effect sort of way, Americans who remember playing Bomberman in the arcade don't remember that it was called Atomic Punk in the US)

@ajroach42 @ifixcoinops The Bomberman series has been released under so many baffling names. The most baffling is "Eric and the Floaters." I am not making this up.

@ieure @ajroach42 like how Capcom doesn't know what Chris Redfield looks like, Hudson doesn't know what their best game is called

@ifixcoinops @ieure until I was an adult, I thought bomberman was a wario specific sidecharacter and had no idea there were other bomberman games.

@ajroach42 @ieure It's possible - almost certain in fact - that there's someone out there whose only experience with Bomberman is the gritty 2006 reboot on Xbox 360. Maybe they've got fond memories of playing it as a kid. One day they'll stumble across the other games and go what the hell is this cheerful cartoon stuff
