daughter was feeling too anxious to go to school so she stayed home, I tried to console her emotionally so we started chatting and the topic went somehow so ChatGPT and the devastation of the Internet and then I invited her to watch that Lily Alexander short new video abt art which she did while doing embroidery, and I ended up talking a lot about the history of Western art and also political history of Germany and also what are some cool embroidery stitches. didn't even notice the sun going low on the sky.

I love no-school days because my kids have to have some opportunity for education sometimes

daughter: I'm trying not to overdo it but I find it very hard to feel guilty for missing classes. teacher is angry because I was late and I'm like, "I'm sorry that the park was so beautiful and I stopped to enjoy the rare sunlight and look at the plants starting to come up"?? I'm not sorry actually??

me: many of my most precious youth memories were skipping school, and I don't recall a single time I regret not going to class.

daughter: not helping lol

@elilla is it a requirement that German teachers are angry? Heard it so much from several different creatures.

@owl I believe German teachers believe that being angry at kids builds character or whatever. probably a major reason why Germans are... like that.

my daughter was like "I am feeling literally too nervous to do this, I need help", teacher: "well something has to change or you'll be downgraded to Realschule, goodbye"
