It occurs to me that even though developers are constantly talking about Golang and there's a decent amount of FOSS projects using it... I never see it mentioned in job listings that I run across by happenstance. Python, JS, Perl, C/C++, C#, Rust... but never Golang.

Why is that?

@joepie91 They definitely do exist! My last role in the Netherlands (although that was over 6 years ago at this point), was as a golang developer. And at my current job, despite not being a developer, we do use golang. But yeah, they have always been a bit more rare sadly.

@joepie91 Maybe it has to do with the kind of companies that are hiring? There were definitely a lot of Go vacancies the last time I was looking for a job in 2021. But the companies are all very VC-funded, ad-tech or fin-tech which, knowing you, are not likely to appear in your bubble :)
