Decay is setting in at Chewy.

Corner scratcher was getting scraggly, but I was happy with it, so ordered another one, figured I could re-use the existing mounting holes.

Uh-oh.

Old one had velcro on the back, in addition to clear plastic mounting tabs on top and bottom. New one, not so much.

Ran screws through the top mounting tabs and then had a think about how to finish mounting the new one to the wall, given that it lacks mounting tabs on the bottom so would obviously just flap around. Headed downstairs to get some velcro tape. Came back up and one mounting tab had already broken. Looks like the only thing holding it in was a miserly squirt of hot glue.

The cat's asleep. This fell off under its own weight.

Chewy have taken a decent product and run a bait-and-switch on it. They've replaced a real, functional scratching thingy with this fake thing that looks like it, but doesn't work, and can't work, designed to be purchased and then immediately thrown away. What a load of shite.

The old one, that worked, was made in China. Guessing my some company that Chewy subcontracted to.

The new fake one was sold to Chewy by Trixie Pet Products in Texas, item number 43431. There are no marks or labels on the scratcher or packaging indicating where it was made

@ifixcoinops Ah, I know this company. They're a big supplier of pet products of dubious quality over here in Europe...
