@ChrisMayLA6 it's also strategy by the politicians. For instance, two days ago wilders, leader of the extreme right party that's part of the coalition here, held a press conference. He demanded huge and impossible things to be pushed through in weeks. Not caring for democratic or legal basis, just blurting out that the army should close all the borders yesterday.

Meanwhile, when the left comes with proposals, it's always well thought through and researched stuff, and they are ready to wheel and deal and compromise.

So for the media, the first is big and bold, the second is boring. And overtons window is pulled further right.

@colapunk @ChrisMayLA6 This is exactly it, as far as I can tell. It's the same dynamics as clickbait - sensation and provocation sell.

the right wing parties also have extensive resources to keep bombarding the media with not just press releases but pre-packed audio and video content, which time pressured journalists are likely to include without even looking at it that closely.

Consider that when Farage got milkshaked a few years back those who did it got fined for damaging a broadcast quality radio microphone he was wearing concealed behind his rosette. Although this could be in part a security arrangement (with his close protection listening in on the receiver), its more likely its providing high quality audio for a video crew shadowing him at all times..

@vfrmedia @colapunk @ChrisMayLA6 This reminds me of the phenomenon where corpo lobbyists are overly trusted by journalists and politicians alike, merely because they have a phone number that you can call 24/7 and get a representative to speak to you, while eg. activist groups have no such thing

@joepie91 @vfrmedia @ChrisMayLA6
..which sometimes means that if you get your bold and well written press release about your demo or action to the journalist before the police does so, you can get your (not underestimated) numbers of people attending said demo or action to be the standard ;)
