a bias I started to notice on Wikipedia recently: open source projects that are described like "offers similar features to $proprietary_service" while the proprietary service is just described as what it does

@eloy There's definitely a bias going on there, but I do think there is a certain kernel of truth to it - *a lot* of FOSS culture really does revolve around chasing the currently-hip proprietary thing with a FOSS 'alternative' rather than working to build new, better things that can stand on their own merits.

To my never-ending frustration, because it can be really difficult to find people willing to put work into trying new things 😕
