Well, it's happened. The International Criminal Court's e-mail services (specifically those of the head prosecutor) at Microsoft have been shut down, most likely as a result of the sanctions that Trump applied to the ICC after the ICC issued an arrest warrant for Netanyahu and Gallant.

The prosecutor now cannot do their job anymore.

The danger of relying on US-based tech companies is no longer hypothetical now.

@joepie91 they're also using Cloudflare

But really, how hard is it to change an MX record? Do they have no IT staff at all?

re: uspol, israel, europe, tech companies

@feld The problem probably isn't where the mail gets delivered. It's the entire system of integrating it into their existing setups.

@joepie91
for the last five years, people have been posting things like “this will lead to a cyberpunk apocalypse, do you really want corponations instead of corporations?”

and everyone has been replying “you are already in the cyberpunk apocalypse. it just hasn't inconvenienced you directly yet so you didn't notice or care”

and then they get blocked by OP who didn't like their uncivil tone.

@joepie91 … for Europeans. For most of the rest of the world, this never has been hypothetical in the first place

@piegames Oh sure. That was the implicit context in this case, given everybody suddenly panicking about 'loss of sovereignity' over here for the past month or so.
