re: politics, complaining about leftists
@flesh I usually see a very different motivation: the people complaining about antifa (who are not fascists, or at least not overtly) almost always do so without actually thinking about why 'antifa' is a thing and what it is a response to, and complain about it on a very superficial basis of "looks aggressive, disrupts the peace". And that idea of "we must not do or allow anything that upsets things" plays directly into the strategy of fascists, who are not bound by such values.
The "anti-antifa is just fa" thing is then just an attempt to compress all of that context down into less than two paragraphs.
re: politics, complaining about leftists
@flesh Right, but how would you compress all of the above down to basically a single sentence without being misunderstood?
It's really difficult to convey any kind of political message at any kind of larger scale without doing so - long explanations rarely survive very far.
re: politics, complaining about leftists
@joepie91 I don't think that something that reads as "anyone who doesn't like us is fascist" is gonna be particularly reassuring to people thinking they "go too far" or whatever.
