Well, at least the SC did *something* against the fascist arms manufacturer recruiting on the forums, but again with the both-sidesism and the seeming deathly afraid of doing anything that might be deemed 'unfair' by fascists.
It's almost as if this is an entirely predictable outcome when you try to emulate a nation state in your governance structure and refuse to settle on any actual value system!

@joepie91 The last paragraph is so extremely accurate. I've seen many communities play the "virtual democracy" game, and it has never once went well.
I mean, even the chain of events leading up to SC forming was pretty dubious. First, the open letter - the response to which pretty much fractured the community. Then, the whole Zulip thing - which absolutely no one enjoyed or saw as productive, including the fascists. A temporary governance body was formed - which somehow made a certain drama even worse, and other than that only set up fancy elections for SC. And now we have SC, which... Banned Anduril from forum recruitment, and posted a nothingburger response to Dix announcement. And for some of the members, 1/3rd of the term already passed.
Some people say that "a lot has changed" because we now have SC, but it doesn't feel that way. That's an expected result after the first "working group" decided to host Zulip thing instead of fixing issues. And this result **sucks**.

@KFears The one thing I'd sort of disagree with would be that the Zulip wasn't productive - it established beyond a shadow of a doubt that there is no singular NixOS 'community' with a cohesive system of values, and that the fragments of community that do exist are fundamentally irreconcilable in a number of ways.
That's not the outcome that I'd hoped for, but it certainly helped to get a clear and unambiguous answer to "is there a way out of this swamp without drastic measures", that answer being "no".

@KFears Yeah, that was pretty much a predictable outcome once so many competent maintainers left over the handling of things, honestly.
I also think it was pretty much inevitable. The departures were a bit louder because of the outspoken community conflict, but I suspect that those who left would've otherwise quietly burned out instead.

@joepie91 Yeah, true. Though, I really wanted said "drastic measures" to, like... actually happen. Maybe it's for the best that Nixpkgs hasn't gotten torn apart by different forks, but people have reported that Nixpkgs rolling became a lot more unstable, soo... I guess the downsides are already there, without the upsides.
