Ah yes, certainly enjoying Element constantly generating 'notifications' because it is repeatedly failing to send my messages and asking me to retry, because Synapse (also from Element) is a piece of shit that constantly hangs for minutes at a time for no discernible reason, and so I end up spending upwards of 10 minutes constantly getting interrupted by notification icons because none of this shit fucking works, to send like 4 lines of text

It is really quite incredible how bad they have managed to make their implementation of what is nominally a great idea

Main Synapse process has been stuck consuming 100% CPU for the past 25 minutes 🤡

@joepie91 huh, yours isn't always doing that anyway? xD

@navi It's running on a server that's specced highly enough that *usually* it manages to stay under 100% CPU

@joepie91 oh you mean 100% on all cores? here there is always one thread constantly at 100%

@navi Well, Synapse cannot into multithreading so it's 100% of one core for the main thread specifically right now, but that's usually under 100% because it's a worker setup

@navi It was especially 'hilarious' when the Element people were trying to sell their Synapse Proprietary crap and basically saying "if you run a worker setup then you should be using Pro, workers do not work well in community Synapse".

The people who told us years ago that we should run a worker setup on our homeserver and that it wasn't going to work otherwise, dear reader, were... the people running Element

@joepie91 I feel this. I'm not having nearly the issues you're having right now, but the onboarding for new users is such shit. I tried to explain it to my chosen family mom, and after months, we're still not verified with each other :blobcat_not_like_this:

I have no idea what to use outside of signal and matrix though. I use matrix primarily, mostly because I'm not sure what else is safe and featureful

@domo Well that's the part that sucks, there basically are no credible alternatives (yet, anyway) 😕
