One of my smaller fascinations is how nobody seems to know that PayPal is legally a bank under the regulatory authority of Luxembourg (and everyone thinks they're a PSP or so), even though they've been a bank for at least a decade

Possibly related to most people expecting banks to not steal your money without warning if they feel like it.
@joepie91 I only just found this out today while connecting a bank account to PayPal via sepa. I was surprised they had an IBAN with super low digits.
