That feeling when one of the biggest advocates for LLMs-for-coding, one who has always presented themselves as the “reasonable” one, finally comes out and says exactly what everybody else was saying 2-3 years ago when Copilot first got traction. 😑

And I’m willing to bet that they’re even going to get credited as one of the earliest to make the observation.

I honestly shouldn't have posted this. Chalk it up to a moment of pre-coffee grumpiness. I'm not going to delete it because people have already replied to it and disappearing originals that have replies just makes people imagine the worst, but I'm also not going to explain it further because that'd just exacerbate the damage.

@baldur I'd personally interpret the original post in the context of a broader phenomenon or pattern of this happening, which I think is worth calling out - because it definitely doesn't just happen for LLMs, and it's responsible for a lot of hypes that have cumulatively done a lot of damage...
