When I first bought the domain it was something like two dollars - why did it jump from two to thirty? I'm very much not pleased with that turn of events and it has me scratching my head in sheer confusion.

@silverface I don't know whether it was the case for this specific domain (it depends on the TLD, the registrar, and when you buy it) but it's pretty common for the sketchier registrars to offer great-looking "first year" prices for a domain and then charge you a large amount for renewals afterwards, often much higher than registrars that charge the same amount every year.
