The CppNix team has discovered today that the #NixOS infra has actually been running on Lix for a few months because their software is too shit to reliably function on large-scale critical infrastructure (e.g. the build farm supporting NixOS). Like, it just segfaults or has protocol incompatibility regressions every version.

It's been really interesting watching their indignation at having actual competition doing their job better than they do it themselves.

@delroth What stands out to me is the comment that "the foundation was set up to support the Nix project, not the concept".

If that is so, then why don't the bylaws say that?

@joepie91 I mean, the bylaws also say the foundation needs to have at least 3 board members, and that if that condition is not met vacancies need to be filled "as soon as possible". I think the NixOS foundation hasn't had* at least 3 board members for almost a year at this point, so clearly they don't care much about the bylaws.

* According to public announcements of resignations. Of course, the Foundation never filed the paperwork to officially remove those board members.

@delroth This puts their tax status at risk, I'm pretty sure.

@joepie91 @delroth as with everything in this sphere it will be left until the last possible microsecond and then explode.
