Pet peeve: FOSS projects which depend on closed/proprietary/hosted systems for their development process because "we do not have the capacity to maintain all this stuff ourselves".

Ever heard of the concept of 'solidarity' and cross-project collaboration? Why are you assuming that you, as a sole project, must fix these issues on your own? Why haven't you sought collaboration with others who have the same problem, and distributed the workload?

@joepie91 i admit that even with all the good will I have, I will soon have to move Lix CI/CD to buildkite.com which is a closed non self hosteable CI/CD service to give some air to Lix peeps until I can do enough progress to build the CI/CD any Nix project deserve in a self hosteable version

And unfortunately, I feel like we are quite unique in that need (Nix-first CI/CD projects), alas…

Ugh. Just last night I was looking into Marlin because I needed to upgrade the firmware on my 3d printer due to some hardware I added. Only to find out that the build system has changed since last time I used it. Basically their only supported way was through platformio. Or more specifically, a vscode addon that makes it easier for you.
Easy, let's do that in VSCodium I guess. NOPE, this plugin isn't in openvsx because of some licensing shit.. Blegh. At that point I just went to bed 😂
