Question for #actuallyautistic fedi-folks:

Can someone give me some pros and cons to being officially diagnosed?

I'm 47 and discovered my status literally a month ago. As I'm in the middle of a job hunt (13 months and counting since I was laid off)—I'm deeply curious to hear folks' stories of what happened post-diagnosis if you got one.

And if not, why not?

How does it affect your life either way?

Much thanks in advance.

@barefootrambling Netherlands: pro, local hospital proactively provided accommodations (eg. private room) when I was taken in for kidney issues. Con, it's (along with ADHD) a reason to require an additional psych visit to get a driver's license.

(The implications vary by where you live)

Oooh, I hadn't even thought about the license question. Interesting...thanks!
