This may be very 'been here long and I think I know everything' but it's funny seeing hot takes regarding the fedi from newer accounts and it's stuff myself or Ginny or Ro talked about years ago

@CaribenxMarciaX The most guttingly sad part is that all these people in the here and now exploring this stuff all bright eyed and bushy tailed are going to be talking the exact same way in a year.
Until the people with the resources in time and funds and nerd know-how suddenly give a shit about the harms they're enabling and then putting in the solutions we've been asking for every way under the sun for years by way of apology we'll be in this circle forever

@Shrigglepuss @CaribenxMarciaX I do wonder if the size of the problem could be reduced by having some kind of "start here to find a summary of every discussion we've already had 10 times, and why this hasn't been solved yet" page (that explicitly calls out whose decisionmaking is blocking it too)

@joepie91 @CaribenxMarciaX It shouldn't even need an expose though. The architects here are shameless when it comes to facilitating new social-level safety features, they literally won't care if you put that mastodon-sized amount of effort into it, it's a cultural issue
