Today I am doing something unprecedented: I am giving tea an honest try, to see if I can make it palatable to myself.

I've brewed up a mug of the housemate's earl grey, and I have a bag of sugar and a 1/4 tsp. I'm going to see how much sugar is needed to take enough bitter edge off of tea to make it palatable.

Hopefully it'll be a LOT less sugar than is in colas, and I'll have a significantly healthier source of caffeine that'll be better for my pancreas and kidneys in the long run.

@dragonarchitect Something that may be worth trying: white tea or even green tea, both of those tend to have relatively little bitterness by themselves, and a more sweet/sour-y flavour. With green tea make sure to let the water cool for a bit before brewing, green tea + boiling hot water = very bitter tea.
