Every interaction with any ISP in this country significantly increases my desire to start my own ISP and do it fucking right

Story from today:

ISP providing landline POTS phone at my grandparents place, that also provides VoIP service, can't provide VoIP at their place because – and I fucking quote – "internet infrastructure is rented and because of that internet phone is not supported"

One part is right, fiber cable isn't theirs, it's an open access infra

However, I think they don't know what the word "internet" means and how what they just said makes no fucking sense no matter how you look at it

@rail_ For what it's worth, basically every single thoroughly reputable ISP I know of, in any country, started out of spite with the existing industry, after someone concluding pretty much the same thing... so yeah, that sounds like a good plan (assuming you're prepared to deal with the complexity)
