saw someone genuinely say that piracy is stealing. "you don't own rented items" my sibling in cthulhu there is literally no point in renting movies. it's not a nonrenewable resource. in fact digital information is one of the few things in the world that increases in its volume when distributed. when you download them you literally copy the movie. there is literally NO need to paywall this other than creating artificial scarcity and making money off of being a scumbag

@mynameistillian I've had relatively more success by pointing out "if it were just stealing, there wouldn't be a separate law for it, we already have a law for stealing" and often that's enough of a "wait hold on a moment" for someone to be more open to reconsidering
