: what keeps you from building your own community space on the web, that works exactly the way you want? :boost_requested:

This doesn't have to be about a fediverse space, and it doesn't matter what kind of reason it is - technical, financial, social, ethical, otherwise, I want to hear them all 🙂

(Boosts much appreciated, I'm hoping for this to get outside of my bubble!)

@joepie91
If that would be a community space of irl friends and family etc, then the problem would be convincing them to join me. Because 99% wouldn't leave Whatsapp and 1% is extremely picky (you know who you are)
When it comes to online friends, lots of them are either picky and/or could build something far better. Even when they are the ones doing the tech part, because it can always be better.

so... social, I guess, plus the fact that I have no idea what's under the hood in social media

@StroomAfwaarts When you say "could build something far better", do you mean from a technical perspective, or from a community management perspective, or something else?

@joepie91 tech! So many languages and protocols to choose from, they will keep coming up with even better versions 😀
