Wish we had enough followers to say "support open-source projects" and 100 people would just reply with "real"

@godotengine make the docs more accessible for editing and we can talk

@joepie91 @efi chiming in real quick

Feedback is always welcome! Even on a meme post, especially since it wasn't rude or anything. We just might not always be able to answer, and concrete issues are best reported on GitHub directly so they don't get lost.

This was also not primarily a funding post either, just a trend we picked up in order to educate more people about how Godot Engine (or any open-source project really) is developed. Though donations are always needed!

meta discussion

@godotengine (Huh. This message somehow never made it into my notifications.)

Right. To explain a bit more where I'm coming from: it was specifically the comment of "I will always be justified to ask for better workflows whenever and wherever I want" (and the sense of entitlement and disregard for others that it implies) that set off red flags for me, up until then I just felt "that's kind of a weird demanding comment to make but probably no ill intent".

@joepie91 to be fair, we do get those a lot, especially over here on Mastodon for some reason. Some with unfortunate phrasing but good intentions, and some plain unreasonably mean.

Like you said in one of your comments, that can take a toll on the maintainers - but at least we nowadays have a communications person (hello 👋) to catch most of the harm before it reaches the devs. As well as forwarding some genuine kindness and support to the team instead 💙

@godotengine I'm not surprised to hear that it happens especially on Mastodon, unfortunately. If I had to guess, a lot of them probably originate from Fosstodon? As there are frequent complaints across fedi of this kind of behaviour from there... (but I've definitely also seen it from other instances.)

Good to hear that there's a layer of insulation, though - just please make sure that you don't burn out either :)
