Insurance is just the capitalist equivalent of taxes
@joepie91 People are going to become increasingly aware of this as climate change makes more and more homes uninsurable. Was pretty eye opening for me in 1989 when a completely normal-sized earthquake happened in California and suddenly it was no longer economic for any private company to provide earthquake insurance in the state. I mean, what did they think they were insuring against?
(And like all capitalist equivalents of other things, it has all the problems of the original thing, plus extra problems)
