So tomorrow I’m back on trains again 🎉

But not crossing any international borders 😭

I am however attempting something almost as hard: getting from Ravières in Bourgogne to Nantes without going through Paris 💪

The route:

TER Nuits-sous-Ravières - Dijon
TER Dijon - Nevers
Intercités Nevers - Nantes

All except Nuits - Dijon - Chagny (the first 100km) is entirely new to me. So it’s going to be interesting!

And Sunday I’m returning through Paris

Ah. Another one of those incomprehensible SNCF sales systems

The (Lyon-)Nevers-Nantes Intercités is NOT compulsory reservation

But the train I’m to take tomorrow is listed as “fully booked” but yet I can book a fully flexible ticket for a later one. Which if it’s fully flexible would allow me to take the earlier one!

(I’m on Interrail anyway so this is immaterial anyway, but the system makes no sense)

@jon You sure that would work? AFAIK some tickets are 'flexible' in that you can rebook onto other trains, but only if there would still be seats available on those trains (ie. you can't just hop onto whatever). Not sure if that's the case for SNCF.

@joepie91 this isn’t a compulsory reservation train. That’s the POINT. It hence cannot by definition sell out.
