Your periodic reminder that with 'state-sponsored attacks', usually the only thing that's certain is that it *definitely wasn't* the country that it looks like it was.
Be very, very skeptical of people trying to attribute stuff like backdoors to specific countries. Misinformation campaigns are very much on the table here.

but I think it is reasonable to say the xz stuff is a state actor. But yeah, no idea from where.
@joepie91 I'd argue also that attribution is the work of professionals versed in geopolitics and social studies and as always, the armchair experts should sit down and calm down the LARP urge.
