meta politics grumbling

You don't necessarily need to agree with everything that radical folks do, but if every single one of your 'political' posts is strictly about electoral politics and you never bother to look into or talk about radical politics at all...

Well, let's just say that it couldn't be clearer that politics is just a game to you and you cannot be trusted with the well-being of marginalized folks, regardless of whether you claim to be an ally

Like, electoral politics are essentially sportsball for people who don't actually like sports. All the same mechanics of rallying around a 'team' with little substance behind it.

Electoral politics may cause some change, because of its current positioning in society as a center of power, but it sure as hell is not and never has been the driver of social change. It certainly does not protect vulnerable folks.

Relatedly: Voting is one thing. But *why* would you spend a ton of time and energy on debating electoral politics? Isn't the point of electoral politics to outsource it to politicians so that you don't need to constantly concern yourself with it?

So, do that - and spend the remaining time and energy on working with others on radical, grassroots politics that actually stand a chance of materially improving the situation for marginalized folks.

You'll get a lot more results out of your time and energy that way, I promise.
