It's the yearly "fighting with GnuCash's completely absurd currency exchange handling" day today

For some fucking reason it will only ever let you enter amounts in one of the two currencies involved, and it's usually the inconvenient one

You are running on a fucking computer, I should not need to break out the calculator and manually calculate exchange rates

I would honestly be willing to pay a pretty good amount of money for an open-source bookkeeping system that can handle my needs as a freelancer in NL, and that's actually usable and intuitive enough to not make my taxes a nightmare

(And no, 'string together a bunch of CLI tools' does not meet that bar)

Also please do not suggest me tools that were made for US businesses, because tax rules are very different here

@joepie91 oh my gosh. I tried once to use it and I just straight gave up and had to the the exchange rate myself. terrible ☠️

@octopussy It is *so bad* and I'm not sure how any of the authors successfully do their taxes with this thing because holy shit
