The concept of a "third option" is so useful.

*So many* seemingly impossible problems and horrible tradeoffs can be resolved by just... rejecting the assumption that the only available options are the ones that have been presented.

@joepie91 yeah! Isn't this the main idea behind dialectics, like taking a thesis and an antithesis and synthesizing them?

@arcade I don't know much about dialectics, but it *feels* from your description like that's more tightly scoped - like how often there are more than 2 options that all have their own tradeoffs, and I'm not sure if that fits in that model?
