I bet that if Facebook decides not to federate after all with their Twitter clone, all the usual techbros and bootlickers will immediately go "see, you were panicking about nothing", and not consider for a moment that maybe the backlash might be the *cause* for that

For those interested, this phenomenon has a name, by the way - it's the "preparedness paradox" (also often called "prevention paradox" though that seems to mean something different as well)

I haven't seen any early covid "hysteria" deniers publicly admit they were wrong, they just moved on to be very smart and rational about other things.
