personal, rationalism

I used to be pretty deep into rationalism (the 'religion', not just the scientific principle), and the reason I am not anymore is because unlike many other rationalists, I didn't inexplicably exclude "rationalism itself" from the list of subjects to critically inspect

Which should tell you something about the people who continue to religiously follow "rationalism" as a core belief system that overrules all other considerations, and how "rational" they are actually being

(For the avoidance of any doubt, that includes almost everybody who actually *calls* themselves rationalist)

And to be clear, I'm certainly still unlearning habits from that time, this is not to say "I'm better now!".

It's more to provide a counter-narrative to the "but we're just being rational" from the perspective of someone who is deeply familiar with how that whole rabbit hole works.
