Now that sodding #Facebook seems to be coming to the #Fediverse, there's a lot of discussion about whether or not to defederate those bastards.

It sure would be nice if we could suddenly talk to more than a billion people ("choke on that, Musk!"), but with it comes a host of problems. Take for example #moderation. Facebook doesn't have a very good track record when it comes to moderating desinformation, hate speech and basically every sort of crap you can think of. In fact, they don't have a very good record in anything. But there's more.

But the biggest problem is probably not even how Suckerberg would scrape whatever personal info he can find, so he can sell even more. The biggest problem is probably an attempt to "Embrace, Extend and Extinguish".

So, let it be clear: as soon as they set foot in the Fediverse, I'll block the hell out of them. I sure hope that the vast majority of other admins will too.
