@joepie91 I think barcode scanners use a raster scanning method, so they sweep left to right over the barcode. That turns the spacial barcode signal into a wave over time for analysis, so the LED is trying to bypass the first step and go straight to time without going through space. That last part sounds very strange but I hope it makes sense.
