wizard meta, the perfect combination
as per usual i'm only overhearing wisps, which is probably for the best, but on its face: i don't think it's unreasonable to not ban people for playing wizard game?? what happened here. the first reply is like "i better find another instance"
i very much get it's frustrating that you can't do much to impede the actively evil billionaire, but what is lashing out at everyone else within range meant to accomplish
re: wizard meta, the perfect combination
@eevee imo the issue was more "don't post spoilers just to spite people", and then banning people who criticized him
re: wizard meta, the perfect combination
@eevee @trajing It's rather a bit different; people are posting spoilers to sabotage the fandom around the game, in an effort to make it unattractive and therefore unprofitable (and also 'raising awareness' of the issue among those who are *not* trans).
And the admin decided to take the stance of "don't do that because it inconveniences me as the instance admin who has to deal with it", which was predictably poorly received by trans folks who saw a supposed 'ally' try to take away one of the few ways in which they could actually effect change because of personal inconvenience.
And then the admin lashed out and decided to shut down the instance, and suddenly the entire conversation is about pity for the admin instead of the unaddressed policy issues, which is pretty questionable

@joepie91 @trajing this... sounds an awful, awful lot like lashing out, and then rationalizing it after the fact with some extremely tenuous series of hypothetical events that will deprive jkr of two dollars
and to be honest it's so transparent that i'm a /little/ annoyed that you would expect me to buy it. deliberate spoilers don't stop people from partaking in media; they're designed to punish, not dissuade. and we ALL KNOW THIS because it has HAPPENED BEFORE — "snape kills dumbledore" was such a big thing that i remember /news coverage/ about it, but it had no perceivable impact on the franchise
this isn't about effecting change; it's about being snotty because we can't. i wouldn't be thrilled having that land on my doorstep either.
