@joepie91 by definition dogwhistles are almost impossible to recognize unless they are aimed toward you though right? I've never successfully recognized one and my friends that do say they recognize them have been unable to show me any definitive examples in the real world, it's always "this might be a dogwhistle" or "probably a dogwhistle". It seems to be easier if you ignore context and look at sentences in a vacuum, but that's really hard for me to do.
Relatedly: with every passing day, I more and more understand why some people just don't bother explaining their judgments/conclusions anymore as soon as any nuanced understanding is required
