@LunaFoxgirlVT Going by their Code of Ethics[0], it sounds like they're trying to establish some common rules. That in itself doesn't sound too bad, although there are rules in place that force all participating instances to federate with each other. It sounds like the admin got tired of getting defederated. What's the story behind this, anyway? If I may ask.

@tami @LunaFoxgirlVT@vt.social That's how they present it, yes. The insidious part is that it doesn't just define "some common rules"; it effectively defines a *ceiling*, as in, saying that you *must not* moderate more strictly than is stated in those rules.

The origin of the whole thing is also extremely sketch, as I've written about before: social.pixie.town/@joepie91/10

@joepie91 Thank you! This answered all my questions. I was going to say how conceited the name “United Federation of Instances” is. They currently list 17 member instances, but seven of those have less than 10 users. They even include single-user instances in their little showcase. They're claiming “over 200 000 users”, but a quick check in FediDB shows closer to 50 000. This whole thing is built to seem bigger and more important than it is. I was easily fooled by the appearance. Thanks again!
