was tempted to do some nixos trolling: services.mastodon.enable = true; (it’s almost this simple)
@pingiun I more mean the actual setup and maintenance part of NixOS - it's already trivial to get it running on pretty much any VPS (see eg. nixos-infect) but that's not where most of the complexity and learning curve is

@pingiun Huh, nixos-infect has basically always worked OOTB for me?
@joepie91 if nixos was available on VPS hosts people would actually be able to setup mastodon like that tho. although imo automatic updates should be configured by default
